NCAA receiving electronic transcripts from eSS network members
For the past several months, the NCAA has been receiving electronic transcripts from a growing number of eSCRIP-SAFE™ high schools and colleges. Early on, the NCAA recognized the need for academic institutions to reduce their transcript delivery costs, insure prompt delivery of transcripts directed to the NCAA and allow institutions to improve their green footprint.

Since May 2008, eSCRIP-SAFE™ was recognized by the NCAA as an authorized and trusted third party for the electronic delivery of official transcripts. This allowed academic institutions with students seeking NCAA athletic eligibility and wishing to participate in NCAA sanctioned events to have academic transcripts delivered electronically to the NCAA for eligibility review and verification.

eSCRIP-SAFE™ is pleased to welcome the NCAA Eligibility Center into our growing network of transcript recipients.

 July 8, 2008: eSCRIP-SAFE adopted as Electronic Transcript Network in Louisiana

 The State of Louisiana Board of Regents, the Louisiana Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers(LACRAO) and SCRIP-SAFE® International announce the state-wide adoption of eSCRIP-SAFE™, the Global Electronic Transcript Delivery Network. eSCRIP-SAFETM provides state of the art delivery of official transcripts through immediate and secure electronic means to destinations across Louisiana, the United States, and world-wide. The delivery process is fully monitored providing the student, the sending college, and the receiver with real-time delivery confirmation.

 In the adoption of eSCRIP-SAFETM as the electronic transcript provider in Louisiana, Theresa R. Hay, Assistant Commissioner for Planning and Research, Louisiana Board of Regents, noted the “importance of providing our students and their designated transcript recipients with prompt and secure academic records. Not only is the eSCRIP-SAFE™ electronic delivery service literally immediate, it is easy for recipients around the world to use, much like on-line banking---private and secure. It allows the public institutions in Louisiana an immediate avenue for sending electronic documents (PDF’s) while establishing a platform that will permit the transfer of data (XML) as institutions become capable. ”

Bob Vento, Immediate Past President of LACRAO and University Registrar at Louisiana Tech University, identified these reasons for the selection of eSCRIP-SAFE™:

·         “It provides immediate and secure electronic transcript delivery within and outside the state of Louisiana to anyone at anytime;
·         It uses a secure network or one-time URL rather than unsecured email;
·         It does NOT require or utilize wholesale exporting of student data beyond the institutional firewall;
·         It is a proven product that has already been adopted by dozens of colleges and universities, including the University of New Orleans which served as a BETA site and Louisiana Tech University.”

Joe Orndorff, President and CEO of SCRIP-SAFE® International stated “we are pleased to add the 36 Louisiana public community colleges, technical colleges and universities to the growing number of higher educational institutions that are decreasing their reliance on paper to better serve their students and alumni while establishing more environmentally friendly offices.”

SCRIP-SAFE® is the leading supplier of secure academic transcripts in the world and provides paper and electronic documents to over 1,800 colleges, high schools and corporations.

Of Butterflies and Paper

SCRIP-SAFE® International depends on paper and electricity to provide electronic and paper transcripts. While we have initiated several green manufacturing practices in our plant, we still use a lot of paper to produce transcripts and security documents every year.  While the development of eSCRIP-SAFE™, the electronic transcript delivery network, will eventually reduce the amount of paper we consume, SCRIP-SAFE® is doing more by supporting the EcoLife Foundation™.
One of the goals of the EcoLife Foundation™ ( http://ecolifefoundation.typepad.com/ )  is protecting and preserving an environmentally sensitive forest area located in the State of Michoacán, Mexico. These forests are the home and the exclusive breeding grounds for over a billion Monarch butterflies. The Monarchs leave their hibernation spot in March for the States and Canada and return in November to trees located on 12 mountaintops in this area each year. If the trees in this environmentally circumscribed area are destroyed, the Monarch fails to reproduce and will become extinct.
What do butterflies have to do with paper? Illegal logging for sale to renegade paper mills and the cutting of trees for heating and cooking are serious problems that threaten both the environment and the Monarch butterflies that we all enjoy.
Both Jo Anne and Joe Orndorff, CFO and CEO of SCRIP-SAFE® International continue to visit Michoacán and observe the beauty of the monarch butterfly. They have elected to support the efforts of the EcoLife™ Foundation with their time and the resources of SCRIP-SAFE® International.
